The new K-9 Ernie Memorial Dog Park in South Covington is now open. It honors a cherished police dog whose dedication and bravery left a lasting impact on the community. Residents of nearby Southgate might be interested in visiting this park and learning more about its features.
The park bears the name of Covington Police K-9 Ernie, an award-winning German Shepherd who partnered with Specialist Michael V. Lusardi and earned widespread respect for his commitment to public safety and exceptional service. Throughout his career, Ernie assisted in the capture of numerous felony suspects, helped reunite missing children with their families, and played a key role in removing large quantities of illegal drugs from the community.
The Parks and Recreation Division and the Public Works Department of the city were leaders of this project. It provides spaces that are dedicated for both large and small dogs. Also in the park are benches and water fountains such that this is a new space for recreation for visitors and their pets.
As the latest addition to the parks network of the city, the project underscores a continued focus on developing inclusive outdoor destinations that serve the entire community. Poster printing offers a highly visible method for informing residents about such new amenities, encouraging public participation while showcasing the positive impact these investments have on the community.
