The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have awarded St. Elizabeth Healthcare a 5-star Overall Hospital Quality Rating for its hospitals in Dearborn, Ft. Thomas, and Edgewood.
The Dearborn Hospital is in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, while the Ft. Thomas and Edgewood Hospitals are within easy driving distance of Southgate.
This is the highest award from CMS and places the trio among the elite hospitals in the country. St. Elizabeth is one of only 10 health systems in the country with three or more facilities with 5-star CMS ratings, and part of a small group of healthcare systems across the country with multiple top ratings.
Chief Operating Officer for St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Vera Hall, said that families and patients are paying close attention to quality. She added that achieving the rating showed how consistent care levels were at St. Elizabeth, and how dedicated its teams were towards achievement them.
The CMS Hospital Ratings help consumers choose where to receive care by highlighting hospitals that deliver the highest quality. Based on factors such as length of stay, patient experience, safety, readmissions, and clinical outcomes, only 12% of the more than 3,000 hospitals evaluated received the top 5-star rating.
