A grant of $37,000 from the Truist Foundation has been awarded to the Enzweiler Building Institute (EBI) in Covington. The Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky (BIA NKY) operates the EBI.
The funds will be used for capital improvements in the building, which can be of benefit to residents of nearby Southgate for workforce training. News of such improvements and their value for students can be made known with flyer printing.
The funding will go towards important infrastructure upgrades that will improve the learning experience of students, and increase the readiness for jobs for adults training in the skilled trades.
The improvements will include construction of a platform that will be raised for HVAC units, which the carpentry students of EBI will build as a real-world learning opportunity; installation of gas lines, ventilation, and ductwork for the HVAC training room to make equipment completely functional for hands-on instruction; purchase of two storage containers for storage of safe materials to accommodate the increase in supplies and students at the site for regular programming, as well as the Covington Academy of Heritage Trades; and a forklift purchase for student certification in forklift operation and classroom support.
Executive Vice President of BIA NKY, Brian Miller, said that these upgrades are essential to preparing students to be successful in the construction industry and will increase the ability of EBI to provide training that leads to economic advancement and real jobs.
