For a child with physical challenges, a wheelchair can mean mobility and freedom. A proper evaluation can make sure their needs are being met, and a London course will provide an introduction to the process.
Those who register for “Let’s Roll: Evaluating for and Prescribing Wheelchairs in the School Setting” will be trained in the steps needed to assess and evaluate a student’s needs when it comes to pediatric mobility devices. Both physical therapy and occupational therapy continuing education credits may be available for the learners, and its being offered to the community thanks to the Southeast/South-Central Educational Cooperative.
The day of training will touch on a variety of topics, including the importance of ensuring that each child who needs one has access to an appropriate wheelchair or other device. They will also discuss the challenges that can arise in using one in a school setting and ways these can be overcome.
Participating in a learning opportunity like this can give those who work with children a way to add to their skill set. Manuals and other course materials can be prepared for the event by a printing services company.
June 15 will be the date for this learning opportunity, and it will run from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. It will be offered at 55 Waco Drive, and questions can be directed to the organizers at 606-657-5210.
