London summer concert series gets underway

A popular concert series kicked off its 10th anniversary season in downtown London at the beginning of this month.

Thursday Night Live! held its first concert of the summer on June 4, with a three-hour performance from Hard Sunday, a classic rock quintet from Richmond. The band's music has been compared to the likes of Motley Crue and Guns N' Roses. Their show includes their own songs, as well as covers of hits originally performed by the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix.

The June 4 concert was just the start of a 10-week series, the organizers of which may wish to use flyer printing to spread the word of the shows in London and beyond. Although hard classic rock was the genre of choice at the opening concert, the style changes from week to week.

Next Thursday, June 18, the style will shift to blues when The Blue Crawdads, from Barbourville, perform with the guests Lightning Round. Nick Dittmeir & The Sawdusters, who hail from Indiana, will bring a quieter, singer-songwriter style to the stage on June 25. Fast forward to July 16, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, a big band dating from 1956, is set to perform. A bluegrass act, Town Mountain, and folk band, Hurley Ridge, will finish the concert series with a performance on August 6.

Every Thursday Night Live! concert will take place at the Courthouse Square in the downtown area. Shows start at 7:00 pm and end at 10:00 pm.
