London firefighters seek to make holidays brighter

The London Fire Department wants to make winter warmer for everyone who calls the city home, and it is counting on the public to be generous in their support.

The Fill the Truck Toy and Coat Drive will give locals a way to give their neighbours in need a helping hand. A drop-off box has been set up, and the contributions will be collected and distributed throughout Laurel county.

This event has become a tradition for the department, and it is undertaken in partnership with London’s North Main Cash Express. Anyone who has new or gently used coats or toys can drop them off, and all support of this activity will stay in the local area. Anyone who would prefer to make a financial contribution will be able to do so, and those who would like to receive donations have been asked to contact 606-312-1329.

Due to COVID-19, the organizers of the activity have put measures in place to make it possible for the donors to drop off items quickly. Signage can be used to help those who want to lend a hand know what to do, and this can be crafted by a local banner printing business.

The London City Fire Department is hoping London will show its usual generous spirit and make this drive a success. Drop stations will be set up at 911 Fire Rescue Drive and also 1801 North Main Street, and they will remain open until December 18.
