London educators offered training opportunity

Students with significant cognitive delays can present unique challenges to the classroom teacher, and educators who would like to add to their box of tools they can draw on when working with these pupils can reserve their space in an upcoming educational opportunity.

The two-part Classroom Management series will be focused on giving London teachers who have less than five years of time managing a class a chance to add to their skill set. It will combine the experience they already have with learning, and will seek to create classrooms that offer a low incidence classroom environment.

The training, which will be based on the SPLASH module, will equip learners with skills that will aid them in working with students with significant cognitive challenges. They will discover ways to apply both responsive and positive and preventive behaviors, and can result in classrooms that offer a supportive and inclusive environment for every student.

Registrations for this workshop are currently being accepted, and it will be offered in the London Training Room located at 55 Waco Drive. Learning and resource materials that can help the educators who take part in this sort of training can be prepared by area Print shops.

This first section of the Classroom Management course has been scheduled to be offered on September 17th. Questions about the learning opportunity can be directed to the organizer through email at annie.conner@sesccoop.org.
