London area foraging expedition to hunt for edible fungi

Morels are a wild mushroom prized by gourmands, and a foraging expedition will give London area enthusiasts hands-on experience in finding these fungi.

The Hungry Forager will be leading a Morel Hunting Workshop, held in Daniel Boone State Park. It is suitable for those with a beginner to intermediate level of experience, and they will be hunting and harvesting these mushrooms in a sustainable fashion.

This outdoor class will run for several hours, and it is advised that anyone who takes part should have some previous hiking experience. The learners will discover which trees morels tend to be associated with, how to make a positive identification of them in the field and how to tell them apart from their lookalikes, which may be toxic. Harvesting tools will be included, and if the group is lucky enough to find these hidden gems, they will learn how to prepare them for the table.

This activity has spots for up to 10 participants. The organizers noted that every participant will be asked to sign a waiver before they head out, and Stationery printers can supply items like these as well as Letterheads and other customized documents.

This event, which may be of interest to foodies and foragers alike, will take place on April 17, beginning at 9:00 am. The Hungry Forager Website includes details about this and other events on offer in Kentucky.
