Training days for Lexington firefighters

The Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society (FOOLS) will be hosting a two-day training session next month for all firefighters in Central Kentucky, including Lexington.

Day one of the workshop will focus on mastering the basics of engine and truck company processes, using real life examples. Firefighters will work together to learn how to be more proficient when on the job. Topics the course will cover include the safe operation of ladders;
effective hose initiation and operation; fluid mechanics and water supply; and emergency entry and exit procedures.

The second day of training will be in a classroom environment. It will be focused on leadership and supervision of others, as well as personal and professional growth. Designed for firefighters who would eventually like to become leaders, the class will be jointly hosted with the Kentucky State Fire Rescue Training commission. Printing services may be used to produce materials to distribute during presentations like this.

FOOLS was founded in 2012 with the goal of promoting brotherhood and maintaining high-quality firefighting in Central Kentucky.

The FOOLS Spring training sessions will be held on Saturday, March 20th and Sunday, March 21st at the Jessamine County Fire District station, located at 1310 South Main Street Nicholasville. Lunch will be provided. Registration in advance on the Eventbrite website is required. Firefighters should specify if they will be attending one or both training days.
