A workshop is coming to Lexington this May to share the beauty of birding with area residents who want a new outdoor activity to enjoy.
The Birding for Beginners workshop, which will be led by Dan Patrick, is coming to a nature sanctuary in Lexington soon, offering an immersive and upbeat learning experience. The event is open to interested parties 9 years old and over who wish to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count for quality time in nature.
The session is an ideal fit for individuals who like the idea of birdwatching, but who have been unsure of how or where to start. Attendees will learn the top tips and techniques for using binoculars, what to look for when looking at a bird, and a discussion of the free mobile phone apps that can aid with bird identification. Event planners can use brochure printing to enhance such events, providing information about the different birds that guests are likely to see.
Dan Patrick, a Floracliff Volunteer, will lead the birdwatching experience. The hike will cover around 1.5 miles, and participants are encouraged to bring water and a snack.
The workshop has been announced for Sunday, May 3rd, running from 10:00 AM to noon. The meeting location will be emailed to registered guests as the date draws closer. Tickets are available online for $15.18 per adult and $9.85 per child.
