Across independent school districts in the state, Paintsville High School claimed the 15th rank, followed closely by Pikeville High School at No. 16. In the recently unveiled rankings, DuPont Manual High School in Louisville held the top position in the state. This marks the second consecutive year it has secured the No. 1 spot.

Liana Loewus, who works at U.S. News as managing editor of education, said in a news release:

“Having access to a strong high school program is paramount for students as they face an ever-changing world. Making data on our high schools available helps parents ensure their child is in the educational environment that best sets them up to thrive.”

The 2023 rankings were the result of assessing close to 18,000 public high schools across state, national, and local levels. According to a U.S. News statement, the rankings for this year highlight schools where students exhibit remarkable results, notably achieving high graduation rates.
