Kentucky Horse Park back open again

The Kentucky Park in Lexington has reopened for the summer.

One museum is open, horseback and pony rides are available, and the gift store sells takeout food and merchandise. There are horse demonstration showcasing different breeds.

Breeds Barn is demonstrating some horse breeds at the park at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm daily. The Hall of Champions, held daily at 10:45 am and 3:00 pm, allows visitors see the Kentucky Derby winner. Big Barn will showcase the largest horses located in a very large barn.

The International Museum of the Horse is open to visitors. It depicts the history of the horse in different countries and historical times. The museum has a collection of art, historical artifacts, documents, carriages, accessories, and horse antiques.

Horseback and Pony rides are available Wednesday to Sunday and can be reserved at the Visitors Center on the day of the visit. Monday and Tuesday the park is closed, but open for rides, and they must be reserved by calling the park.

The Visitors Center will be showing the film “Reign of Nobility” at the Wigley Media Theater at 9:15 am, 11:45 am, 1:45 pm, and 3:45 pm. The Kentucky Horse Park is open Wednesday thru Sunday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm in July and August. Social distancing is practiced, and some attractions remain closed. It is located 4089 Iron Works Parkway.
