Lexington’s first ever Tattoo Convention will be held next month at a local conference center. The show is open to tattoo artists, enthusiasts, and novices to the experience.
Developed by Danny Fugate, an experienced tattoo artist and owner of Ambition Tattoo in Lexington, the convention serves as a way to improve the tattooing experience offered in the local community.
The three-day conference will include special shows and performances, including feats of human suspension. There will be several tattoo contests, with multiple categories, including the best tattoo of the day (one for each day of the festival).
Vendors will be onsite, with attendees having the opportunity to purchase products like body jewelry and after-tattoo ointments. Printing services may be used to create catalogues of the artists’ work to display at the festival.
Attendees may also choose to be tattooed and pierced at the event, with many experienced artists available onsite. Patrons must be at least 18 years of age to be tattooed, and 16 years of age to consent to body piercing.
Members of the media and representatives from related magazines will be at the festival and may cover it live.
The Lexington Tattoo Convention will be held on Friday, April 30 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM; Saturday, May 1 from 12:00 to 11:00 PM; and Sunday, May 2 12:00 to 7:00 PM. It will be held at the Clarion Hotel Conference Center North, located at 1950 Newtown Pike. Tickets are available on the Eventbrite website, with prices for single-day, two-day, and full weekend passes.
