Camp teaches kids to code

Awesome Inc is hosting a camp that gives children in Lexington the chance to spend the summer making apps rather than playing them.

The four-day camp is designed to host children aged 9-16 years old, and may be ideal for any budding graphic design or web development experts. They will be taught about the basics of coding – as well as how to create applications, video games, and websites – by a talented team of educators. By the time the kids are sent home, they will have built an application, game, or webpage.

The kids will be taught how to use languages such as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. Camp numbers are kept small so that each child can get individual tuition. At the end of the course, the kids will be able to go home with their portfolios and project files.

One parent, Danielle Jacob, left a glowing testimonial for the camp:

"My son had an AWESOME week at coding camp. He was able to apply the knowledge and skills that he learned at camp to design a website for a school project Not only did he design a phenomenal website, but he made an A+ on the project too.”

Next month’s camp starts on July 11 and runs until July 16. Drop-off for the kids starts at 12:15 pm. The children are required to bring their own laptops and it will cost $550 per child, although siblings can take advantage of the discounted rate of $375.
