An annual event in Hebron will help those in need.
Every Child Ministries recently announced their annual shoe drive, a fundraiser both for the organization and for people in need. Everyone is encouraged to go through their belongings to find the shoes they no longer need. They can then drop them off at one of several locations, where they will be collected. The main drop-off location is the home office of the ECM, 875 South State Road 2 in Hebron, and there is also a drop-off at the Hebron Ace Hardware. Additional locations can be found in neighboring communities.
The organizers will accept all kinds of footwear, both adults and children. The items may be new, used, or gently warn, come in any size, and include sandals, dress shoes, boots, sneakers, casual, athletic, and even slippers and flip flops. Once the collection is complete, another organization, Funds2Orgs, will buy the shoes and send a check to the organizers who will use the money to fund their programs.
Funds2Orgs will then distribute the shoes to communities in developing countries, where entrepreneurs will use them to create job opportunities. Shoe drives have provided inventory to more than 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs in this way.
The shoe drive begins March 20, and runs through May 21. When they plan events like this, organizers can announce them by using flyer printing to create advertising handouts for local distribution.
