An upcoming event in Hebron will bring together everyone who loves the outdoors for a celebration of nature.
Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is the host of the upcoming Greater Kankakee Jamboree, the first time the organization has done so. The jamboree is a family event that brings conservationists, anglers, and hunters, both new and experienced, together for a fun and educational weekend.
Plans include raffles and prizes, games, industry professionals leading hands-on demonstrations, outdoor seminars, and delicious food, including a Wild Game Cookoff Competition that is always popular. Experts from the local area will be on hand to share information about the Grand Kankakee Marsh.
Panelists and speakers include a panel on “Women in the Outdoors”; a discussion about “Wild Game Cooking” with Chris Kyer aka the Honest Omnivore, and Chris Whonsetler, “The Okayest Cook”; and a talk on “Field Dog Tips & Tricks” given by Ron Boehme of the Hunting Dog Podcast. “Paddle” Don Cranfill will discuss “Backcountry Canoe Adventures” while Gene Hopkins will explain modern bowhunting and how it is connected to the Grand Kankakee Marsh. Roundtables discussing state and federal policies are planned as well.
There will be vendors at the jamboree, more than two miles of hiking trails are available, and there will be plenty of space in the park for games. The host organization can use poster printing to create advertising for events like this.
The Jamboree is scheduled for August 21-23 at the Stoney Run Canyon Park in Hebron.
