Annual run/walk celebrates 44th year

A local Rotary club is planning a special annual event in DeMotte, a short distance from Hebron.

The Annual Rotary Ramble 5K Run or Run and Walk is an event sponsored by the DeMotte KV Rotary, a Rotary International chapter. There are more than 35,000 clubs in the organization, working on humanitarian issues such as growing local economies, fighting disease, and providing hygiene, sanitation, and clean water.

This is the 44th year for the event, which is open to participants of all ages and all levels of experience. The meeting point is the DeMotte Public Library, and the course is mostly flat, which enhances the experience for everyone and generally means a fast race. Participants can look forward to refreshments and door prizes after the race ends. Although this is a run/walk event, there is no walking category this time. Instead, walkers should register under in the “Open” category.

The Rotary Ramble is scheduled for 8.00 am on August 9. Early Bird online registration is available until August 2; the late online registration period is August 3 through 7. If they prefer to register on-site, participants can do so on August 8 and 9. They can pick up their packets at the same time.

The library is at 901 Birch Street Southwest, and the starting line is just north of the library. To avoid confusion, organizers of events like this can work with banner printing to create course markers.
