South Asian restaurant opens in Oak Brook with assortment of flavors

Traditional foods from Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam can now be sampled at the new RockSugar Southeast Asian Kitchen which recently opened in Oak Brook. Those from nearby Oakbrook Terrace will want to take advantage of this unique opportunity to try these varied cuisines.

David Overton, who was the brainchild behind The Cheesecake Factory restaurants, and chef Mohan Ismail, who hails from Singapore and developed his expertise in this type of cuisine in New York, are the ones who developed the concept for RockSugar. They created an extensive menu which features dishes that are the most popular in South Asia.

There is Indian stuffed flatbread, which is offered in many options for vegetarians, and fresh Vietnamese summer rolls as appetizers. Entrees range from Thai whole fish fried crispy, to Malaysian salmon, and Singapore Hainan pork.

There are many vegetarian options on the menu as well, such as spicy cauliflower blended with Indian tomato curry and stir-fried brussels sprouts.

The desserts are all made at RockSugar Kitchen and are often served with artisanal tea that is offered in several blends.
