The LaundryCares Literacy Summit will be presented later this month by Too Small to Fail, an initiative of the Clinton Foundation on early childhood, and the LaundryCares Foundation based in Oakbrook Terrace. This will be presented online as its fall webinar series.
This series will focus on finding literacy in daily spaces for young children and their families, and why these services can best be provided in Laundromats. It will be at no charge for early childhood provider, the funding community, and Laundromat owners. Special events such as this often turn to poster printing for promotional purposes.
Among the keynote speakers will be former President Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea, as well as officials from Too Small to Fail and the Coin Laundry Association. Mo Willems and Andrea Davis Pinkney, two authors of children’s Books, will also be presenting coffee chats. In addition, there will be research updates from the evaluation project of Dr. Susan Neuman, and learning tracks on how to increase literacy in Laundromat settings.
There will be national awards given out for early childhood providers, Laundromat owners showing best practices, and for exemplary partnerships.
The sessions will take place on later this month, with the first on Tuesday, September 15, and others on September 17 and 22. They begin at 1:00 pm and last until 3:00 pm each day.
