Tijuana Flats, a Tex-Mex restaurant based in Florida, will be opening a location in Oakbrook Terrace.
The restaurant is the first from the chain in Illinois. It spans 2,200 square feet and seats 64 people indoors and 12 people outdoors. There will be a mural inside designed and painted by Nate Baranowski, a local artist, inspired by the city of Chicago.
The highlight of the menu will be the Hot Sauce Bar offering 12 sauces from sweet and mild to fiery hot. The restaurant will also offer curbside pickup and order via a digital menu, with boards displaying the status of orders. Special features of such new eating establishments in town can be promoted with flyer printing.
Tijuana Flats is planning many specials during its grand opening week, which will start next Monday, June 6. That day the first 50 patrons of the shop will receive a free taco. Tuesday, June 7, will be Tijuana Tuesdaze, with two tacos, chips, and a drink for $7.99. All public servants, including teachers, nurses, and the police, will receive 50% off all entrees on Wednesday, June 8, while Saturday, June 11 will be Give Back Day during which 20% of all sales for the day will go to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Tijuana Flats Oakbrook Terrace will be opened seven days a week.
