The new headquarters of Ace Hardware Corporation in Oak Brook is now complete.
The headquarters is on the site of what was once the corporate headquarters of McDonald’s and has transformed the building into a modern and vibrant workplace for the hardware retailer. Its location on Jorie Boulevard will most likely provide many employment opportunities for residents of Oakbrook Terrace.
In addition to the need for business card printing services, such new headquarters also often for the need for Stationery printers as new Letterheads and other corporate materials need updating.
There are 150 conference rooms, a variety of amenities and collaboration spaces, open
workstations, and 12 cafes and pantries in the new headquarters. The parking garage on the first floor was converted into a suite of amenities that included a multi-purpose room, a conference center, a fitness center, and large cafeteria and dining center with commercial kitchen.
The former campus of McDonald’s consists of three Brutalist-style buildings, designed by grandson of architect Mies van der Rohe, Dirk Lohan, and the renovation has repurposed many of the original architectural elements of the main building.
A large atrium connects all parts of the building to each other while sky wells allow natural light to flow throughout the space. Conference and office fronts are demountable and create soundproof and functional interior space which is also very private. This configuration also facilitated construction and will provide greater functionality for any re-designs in the future.
