The Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics Discovery Tours of the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau will be introduced at the annual United States Travel Association International Pow Wow conference later this month in New Orleans.
The convention and bureau covers the tourism industry for DuPage County, in which Oakbrook Terrace is located. Courses that meet the unique educational needs of advanced learners served as the foundation of these tours, using America’s Heartland as a laboratory. They were developed in partnership with The Center for Gifted/Midwest Torrance Center for Creativity.
Participants in these tours will experience state-of-the-art technology within the corridor of Illinois Research and Technology, with courses available in such areas as economics, web design, advanced mathematics, and even the performing arts and creative writing.
Sessions are one to three weeks and can be customized to meet student interests and needs. Trips can be arranged to the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratories.
Other options include exploring the American architecture of Mies van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright, and others; experiences in American history at the First Division War Museum at Cantigny; and a complete experience of Chicago.
The conference will be held this Saturday, June 18, through Wednesday, June 22. The DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau is likely to have Brochures on hand to distribute, promoting the opportunities for people to explore the resources in DuPage County and the Chicagoland area.
