Nine organizations recently received $2,221,526 from the office of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) located in Oak Brook, just a short distance from Oakbrook Terrace, as part of its Global Grants program.
These organizations are focused primarily on improving the health and wellbeing of children. The monies donated by the RMHC will help these organizations in solving some of the toughest issues in the care of children in deprived areas of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the United States.
Acute emergency care services, healthcare, and literacy training, and services for mental health are at the center of the Global Grants projects. These most recent donations will help more than 2,000,000 children around the world.
Some of the organizations that benefited from these funds include ReSurge International, which will provide reconstructive surgery to children in Vietnam. Partners in Health, meanwhile, seeks to improve child health in rural Haiti.
According to J.C. Gonzalez-Mendez, President and CEO of RMHC, there are many children around the world who do not have access to the care they need to support their health. He adds that it has been a privilege to work with these organizations this year to help with solving that problem and being able to make a difference for millions of children.
