Breakfast options to grow at McDonalds restaurants

McDonald’s Corp. headquartered in Oakbrook and no doubt a major employer of Oakbrook Terrace residents, recently announced it is expanding its all-day breakfast menu.

The fast food giant plans to add more breakfast sandwiches and McGriddles. There will be three varieties of McGriddles, which will use pancakes flavored with maple, as buns. Some locations now sell only sandwiches made with English muffins, while others sell those made with biscuits. The new menu will have McMuffin and biscuit options available at all locations in the United States.

These additions to the menu will begin across the United States in September, just about one year after the menu of all-day breakfast was introduced. Steve Easterbrook, Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s, started the all-day breakfast as a way to revive sales of the company.

This strategy of Easterbrook has been successful, in that sales rose 6.2% in the first quarter, marking the restaurant’s largest gain since 2012. Value meals have also helped to boost sales for the chain. Results for the third quarter are expected to be released on July 26.

Businesses, especially those in an industry as competitive and changeable as fast food, will often consider the use of a variety of marketing services, such as poster and flyer printing, to promote their additions and compete against their industry rivals.
