McDonald’s, based in Oak Brook, just a short distance from Oakbrook Terrace, recently announced that it will be serving a limited breakfast menu all day.
Although the exact menu will depend on the market, items such as hotcakes, Egg McMuffins, hash browns, and fruit ‘n’ yogurt parfaits will be available all day.
The decision to offer an all-day breakfast came after the company tested such a menu for months in San Diego and found increased customer visits. McDonald’s eliminated its Dollar Menu and since then, sales have fallen for seven quarters in a row, so the company was looking for something to boost interest in its food. It may be turning to ad specialties to make customers aware of the all-day breakfast menu.
As another way to enhance its image, it is toasting its buns longer and searing hamburgers to improve taste.
President of McDonald’s U.S., Mike Andres, said that the menu has been somewhat over complicated so one way that restaurants can simplify their Menus is to remove some offerings so that the breakfast items can remain throughout the day. Some core menu items such as Big Macs will remain throughout all stores, but others might want to remove certain items depending on the region.
Andres is excited about this new menu approach and believes it can be the next big thing for the multinational restaurant chain.
