This March, the Morton Grove Public Library and LACONI CSS will host the LACONI Presents: I'm a Manager, Now What? workshop to help new managers take stock of their newly appointed duties and responsibilities.
The LACONI is the Library Administrators Council of Northern Illinois, an organization that began in 1954 when library directors decided to come together to pool resources related to networking and continuing education programs. The goal was to provide an avenue by which library staff could access best practices, new technologies, and educational programs for library patrons. The CSS (Circulation Services Section) of LACONI was created in 2001 as a cooperation between private, public, and academic libraries to provide further educational and networking opportunities.
The workshop is a three-part series that will teach attendees how to craft their own management style. Michelle Petersen, who is Patron Services Manager at Helen Plum Public Library, will go over topics such as understanding a managerial approach, exploring one-of-a-kind management styles, and other fundamentals of effective management.
Such professional workshops will often utilize printed instructional materials, such as Brochures, which can be printed affordably at many Print shops offering brochure printing services.
The manager workshop is scheduled for Friday, March 8 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. The Morton Grove Public Library is located at 6140 Lincoln Avenue. LACONI members can attend for free, while non-members pay $15.
