The Morton Grove Park District will present the annual Light Up the Park event this December, a community tradition marking a festive beginning to the holiday season.
Founded in 1951, the Morton Grove Park District has been dedicated to providing parks and recreational opportunities and facilities for the community. The district is responsible for ten facilities, including 14 parks, two outdoor pools, a 50,000-square-foot community center, four field houses, and one museum. The district also organizes special community events, such as the holiday lighting event happening in December.
The Light Up the Park event will invite the community to watch as Harrer Park is illuminated with festive holiday lights, with a special tree lighting ceremony for the city's Christmas tree. There will also be meet-and-greets with Santa, family photo opportunities, and tractor rides throughout the park. The Morton Grove Singers and other local artists will also be performing holiday songs for the enjoyment of the crowd.
