Morton Grove will put together its Labor Days festival in early September. This weekend of fun will serve as the replacement for the 4th of July events that could not take place this year due to pandemic restrictions.
The city’s commission for organizing events like this goes back more than 70 years. Though there have been several breaks within this time, including a disbandment in 1985, the commission has remained strong. Proceeds from the event have been donated to help the elderly, the library, police department, and the baseball program, to name a few causes. The group became a non-profit in 2010.
Live music and entertainment will be a part of the backdrop for this event. This will share a space with the beer garden in the pavilion, while the food trucks and family activities will be more spread out. Carnival rides and games will also be present. Prizes will be at the game booths, each being marked with a bold graphic design. The whole weekend will end with a fireworks show in the evening of the Sunday.
Schedules can be found on the village website and social media as the event gets closer. Activities will be split between both Harrer Park and the Civic Center.
The dates are set to be Saturday, September 4 and Sunday, September 5.
