Morton Grove plans 4th of July ride

Morton Grove is holding a bike ride in early July.

This event is set to be a fun form of exercise, as well as a way for riders to show off their decorating skills.

Participants are asked to embellish their bikes with items of their choosing, such as streamers, ribbons, and flags. Costumes are also permitted, and the best three will win prizes. A tip the event organizer shared is that bike decor tends to perform better than a costume. The winners will be chosen before the start of the journey.

This will be 18 miles to the rest point and back. While the ride will not drop anyone, it is asked that participants are able to keep up a speed of at least 10 to 11mph. Once the rest point is reached at the Botanic Garden, refreshments will be available before the ride back.

A helmet is necessary to participate. Distractions like earbuds or loudspeakers are prohibited as awareness is of major important on the trip. Riders should also bring their identification, money, and other necessities with them. A facemask is also required.

Participants can contact organizers with questions or concerns if they feel they will not be able to keep up the speed asked of them.

This will take place on July 3 from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. The start point is located at Bike The Preserves.
