Next Friday, Skokie in Morton Grove will host the Skokie 4th of July Parade and Festival to offer free entertainment and activities for the community in honor of Independence Day.
The 4th of July Parade will begin at noon in downtown Skokie and will proceed eastwards long Oakton Street. The grand marshal of the parade will be author, comedian, and actress Esther Povitsky.
Business and political groups will need to pay a fee to register to participate in the parade, but community, youth, and religious groups will be able to participate for free. Local businesses are also encouraged to reach out to organizers should they be interested in becoming sponsors of the event.
A few hours after the parade ends, Niles West High School will host the festival portion of the event. The festival will feature free family-friendly activities such as carnival games, bounce houses, and face painting. Maggie Speaks will present a live musical performance, and afterwards, the fireworks display will commence.

This year’s event is scheduled for 12:00 noon through 9:30 pm. The parade begins at along Lincoln Avenue at Oakton College, and the festival will be held at Niles West High School at 5701 Oakton Street.
