Holiday run to return near Morton Grove

An annual holiday 5K race is set to occur near Morton Grove to kick off 2021.

Runners who wish to participate in the event have the option to attend virtually or in person for a registration fee of $30 per person. Event proceeds will benefit the Fetching Tails Foundation, which is an Illinois dog rescue center that takes in dogs from other overcrowded shelters and rescue centers.

Health and safety measures will apply to both packet pickups and the in-person event. To make social distancing easier, packet pickups will take place over three days and participants may also opt for contactless packet pickups. For the race, runners from Morton Grove and other areas will start at different times instead of at once in a single group and remain spread out at a safe distance. Each athlete’s chip timer will track individual progress regardless of exact start time. Results for both the in-person and virtual 5k runners will be announced online.

The organizers of racing events often utilize flyer printing to present runners with informative references regarding event rules and requirements.

All runners who participate in the race virtually or in-person will receive a race bib, a long sleeve cotton T-shirt, chip timing, and a finisher medal.

The 2021 Cheers to New Year’s run is scheduled to take place on Friday, January 1 at the Church Street Brewing Company in Itasca.
