Illinois students chosen for pilot program
Leadership Greater McHenry County, an organization that seeks to provide leadership programs for the greater McHenry County area, recently selected 14 students to participate in its upcoming program.
The program is a nine-month pilot program that will allow students in high school to connect to McHenry County in order to help them develop the necessary leadership skills required for college, and to encourage them to live and work in McHenry County after they finish college. Some of the students who have been chosen to participate in the program include Andrew Myland from Richmond-Burton Community High School, Grace Hammond from Crystal Lake Central High School, and Samuel Barton from McHenry West High School in McHenry, Illinois.

“When we raise children in a community, if we have not grounded them in what our community has to offer, they look beyond and leave the area. We’re not necessarily looking for the highest performers, but those who really want to engage in learning about community leadership.”
