Illinois Sheriffs Association awarding college scholarships
The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association recently announced that they will be providing over $54,000 in college scholarships for students in the state who will be attending a certified Illinois institution full-time for the 2018 to 2019 school year.
For residents of Woodstock and other surrounding areas in McHenry County such as Greenwood and McHenry, Illinois, Sheriff Bill Prim will be providing a $500 scholarship that will go towards paying expenses such as books, tuition, and school-related expenses. While Sheriff Bill Prim will be providing a $500 scholarship, other areas may be providing larger amounts. These scholarships will be split in half and dispersed equally over the fall and spring semesters.
The application for the scholarship is currently available online to print and fill out. The application itself consists of eligibility information, a section in which interested individuals will discuss academics and related financial information, and a section with an essay prompt. All applications must be mailed to the local sheriff’s office by March 15 in order to be reviewed and considered. All eligibility information and further instructions can be found online as well.
