Conservation program seeks applicants for summer internship

Applicants are being invited to put their names forward for the Conservation Leadership Internship Program (CLIP) opening this summer.

Run by the Land Conservancy of McHenry County, CLIP offers paid internships that provide workers with the opportunity to gain the experience, skills, and knowledge required to become professionals in the field of conservation. Applicants do not require any experience in the field and applications are open to high school juniors and seniors, as well as college students. All participants will be required to work on tricky terrain and in challenging weather conditions.

Confirmed applicants will have to work for 40 hours every week from June to August at a pay rate of $15 per hour. Participants can expect to gain a wealth of experience when it comes to plant identification, GPS training, land management, herbicide use, fire training, wildlife surveys, land preservation techniques, sustainable farming techniques, scientific research, field safety, professional networking, and career development. Business card printing can be used when starting an executive role in a field like this.

The Land Conservancy of McHenry, which is dedicated to maintaining the scenic and natural agricultural land in the city, is also looking to hire a seasonal restoration technician who will work from May to August. The successful candidate for this role will be tasked with leading a crew from CLIP.

Applications are open until February 27 and can be submitted here.
