Distance runners and athletes in Lyons will want to start training for a late-summer running event organized in nearby Berwyn.
The 7th Annual Corrida del Mariachi 5K Run is returning to the Lyons area this August, providing a certified race with an upbeat theme where local runners can challenge themselves. Runners and spectators can look forward to a course that takes them through Berwyn’s tree-lined streets, where they will be cheered by friends and family and hear the music of Mariachi bands.
Folk dancers and DJs will add to the ambiance along the race’s course, providing extra energy for runners as they approach the finish line. Organizers can use banner printing to create colorful and memorable finish line Banners to welcome participants while making long-lasting impressions.
An after-party will be complete with several food vendors to provide snacks and meals, as well as a beer vendor for refreshing celebratory beverages. Organizers have received commitments from over 40 craft vendors, giving guests the chance to shop for unique goods. Families are also welcome to participate in the many kid-friendly activities. Top finishers will receive an authentic Mariachi sombrero for their efforts.
Runners will meet at 16th Street and Wesley Avenue in nearby Berwyn at 8:00 AM on Saturday, August 15. Runner registration is open online and costs $60.54 for untimed participants and $65.87 for timed runners.
