A new restaurant serving pizza, Old Plank Pizza Co., will be opening in Frankfort.
The owners of Old Plank Pizza Co. are Brad Egner and his wife, Christina. The restaurant will occupy the space that was once Durbin’s of Frankfort, with Durbin’s having since focused on its Tinley Park location.
Old Plank Pizza Co. will offer not only pizza, but also Italian beef sandwiches and wings. Brad said the wings will be high-end and served in generous portions. The Italian beef sandwiches will be a signature menu item served on 11-inch garlic bread with mozzarella, giardiniera, sweet peppers, and an au jus sauce, then cooked in the pizza oven. The recipe for the dough is that of Christina’s great-great-grandmother from Italy.
There will be a dining room in the new restaurant and it will offer delivery and takeout. Local Print shops can often assist with printing Menus for patrons interested in such services.
Brad grew up in Bridgeview, but his family then moved to New York. He had planned that when he was older and successful that he would end up in Frankfort, and when his family moved back to Illinois, he explained to Patch.com that he knew his new home would be Frankfort.
The plan is to open the restaurant this month, with the potential for a soft opening offering take-out and delivery services.
