High school in Frankfort to get new leader

Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort will have a new principal for the 2021-2022 school year.

The appointment of Toriano Griggs has been approved by the Lincoln-Way 210 Board of Education. Griggs will be replacing Dr. Sharon Michalak, who is retiring in June of this year. Poster printing is often used to make such announcements known throughout the community.

Griggs is currently at Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn serving as Associate Principal. Prior to his current position, he was at Lyons Township High School as Assistant Principal and at Glenbard West High School as Supervisory Dean of Students. He has over 20 years of experience in education and started his career as a teacher of special education. His degrees include a master’s degree in leadership and administration from Benedictine University and a bachelor’s degree in special education from Quincy University.

Dr. R. Scott Tingley, superintendent of schools, said that the district is looking forward to welcoming Griggs as the principal of the high school. He added that Griggs has a thoughtful and calm demeanor yet is able to connect with staff, students, and the community. Griggs has had varied experiences in education which will enable him to bring a unique perspective to the high school and the rest of the district. Griggs expressed his excitement about joining the high school.
