Frankfort to see rise in employment

WPS Health Solutions, based in Wisconsin, is planning to add up to 100 positions in the coming months to its office in the West Frankfort Outlet Mall to supplement its current office location in Marion, Illinois.

The city of West Frankfort purchased the mall several years back for $2m and has converted what was once retail space into office space which helps to create new jobs, many of which often require business card printing services.

Tom Jordan, Mayor of West Frankfort, said the mall needs a great deal of renovation so he is looking for grants and investments by the state of Illinois to help with the repairs. Jordan has a vision to “put his community to work” and is looking to do everything he can to attract people to the city.

Management and claims processing positions will be added by WPS and the mayor has said that these are the types of positions that bring people with skills to the area. He added that these are the types of jobs that subsequently enable people to purchase houses to make West Frankfort their home. They become residents, and residents will require retail establishments in turn.

The Marion office of WPS added that the growth is being reflected in their office as well, with many phone inquiries about open positions in West Frankfort and Carbondale.
