Yearly art festival set to reach out to the state

The Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival is returning to the city this weekend, as a presentation of the City of Evanston's Cultural Arts Program Division.

More than 100 artists and crafters from all over the country are expected to be selling items in eleven categories, with ceramics, mixed media, watercolor, and glass among those to be represented. Awards are given to those chosen as the top in each category.

The festival is also set to feature a silent art auction and entertainment from Starlite Radio, Prohibition Orchestra of Chicago, and Laura Joy, among others. The Children's Craft Tent will offer activities such as a paper plate aquarium, caterpillars, and face painting. Vendors will also be offering food and beverages for purchase.

One special part of the festival will be the GOALED Gallery. It will feature the work of artists between the ages of 13 and 21, and items from it will be available for sale.

No doubt many people will want to visit this annual festival, perhaps coming from nearby towns such as Wheeling. Organizers are likely to have been working with local Stationery printers to create items like Flyers for distribution throughout the area.

The Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival is being held at Centennial Park from August 2 - 3. Admission is free. To get the latest information on planned events, call 847-448-8264.
