Library seeking childrens book donations

The Evanston Public Library is seeking donations of children’s Books for its ‘Evanston’s Cradle to Career’ initiative.

The library is looking to expand on a variety of children’s Books, and one genre that has become popular is diversity. With many corporations focusing on diversity in the workplace, this is an opportunity for them to promote the libraries needs by placing Posters and Flyers for employees to see and hopefully contribute.

The library also has a high demand for Books in the Big Nate series, authored by Lincoln Peirce. The demands are high so that librarian Brian Wilson orders extra Copies as soon as he sees a waiting list of over four customers. The Big Nate series is for readers in the 8 to 12 age group, and the Books combine cartoons and words. The author is busy producing a new series about once a year.

The library offers residents a variety of events catered to all ages, children, teens, and adults. Also available to residents are services including Books on wheels, room rentals, and test proctoring.

Those interested in making donations can do so by check or cash, as well as online. If unable to make a donation, there are often volunteer opportunities available, including delivering Books, helping out at community events, and at the annual storytelling festival.

The Evanston Public Library is located at 1703 Orrington Ave.
