The 31st annual Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival is taking place over two days next month. It is a presentation of the City of Evanston Cultural Arts Program,
This year’s festival will celebrate the culture of many countries, including Poland, Ecuador, Mexico, Japan, and India, as well as areas such as Africa and the Caribbean.
Attendees can enjoy performances all afternoon on two stages. There will be traditional cultural dance demonstrations in costume, spoken word performances, and music from artists such as the Chicago Folklore Ensemble, the Johnny Blas Afro Libre Orchestra, and Sultans of String. Cultural performances will include the Tsukasa Taiko Kids, Hounds of Finn, and the Chicago Cossacks.
People of all ages will have the opportunity to learn crafts from skilled artists. These will include such skills as making mosaic sculptures, spice mandalas, Swiss mountain baskets, and puppet making. Various ethnic foods and drinks will also be available for purchase.
Stationery printing companies from the area might be asked to help advertise the festival by providing Booklets or Flyers that can easily be distributed in the city.
The Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival will be held at Dawes Park from July 16 to 17 from 12:00 – 7:00 pm. Admission is free of charge.
