Evanston workshop to teach guests about air plants

The bromeliad family includes plants such as Spanish moss, pineapples and air plants, and an Evanston area workshop will be using a selection of these to craft easy to care for terrariums.

The team at Chicago Botanic Garden cares for all types of plants, and they also work to help educate the public about them. Its air plant terrarium activity will teach some of the basics of planting, and all skill levels are welcome.

The participants will be invited to use the materials supplied to them to create their own terrarium, and they can add any personal touches they wish.

Full instruction is on the agenda, and the finished results can be kept or given as a holiday gift. While both members and non-members are welcome, a discount is being offered to those who currently hold a Garden membership, with prices starting from $72.00 each.

Horticulturalist Elisabeth Aguilera will be sharing her knowledge during the session, and the participants will be invited to ask questions so they can provide their terrarium with lots of TLC. Stationery printers can be utilized to prepare “cheat sheets” that can be handed out to participants in a class like this.

This entertaining and educational workshop, which discusses the best way to care for air plants, will take place on December 9, and begins at 1:00pm.
