Everyone’s favorite round snacks will provide the theme for a charity fundraiser that will see Evanston families hit the pavement to raise funds for their neighbors in need, and all ages will find there is an activity well suited to them.
Those who participate in this year’s Stan’s Donut 5K and Kids Dash can walk or run their chosen route, and those who need a wheelchair or other device are also welcome. The kids’ event is a half-mile long, and all finishers will receive a medal to mark their accomplishment.
Those who register for the day can choose to run or walk the 5K, and those who wish can have their results times using the B-Tag chip timing system. Strollers are permitted in the 5K walk, but the organizers have requested that pets be left at home. The run is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am, the walk will start at 8:30 am, and the kids dash will hit the pavement at 10:00 am.
The charity of choice for this year’s Stan’s Donut run, walk, and dash will be The Greater Chicago Food Depository, which is an organization that is working to end hunger and poverty in the area. Print shops can use graphic design techniques to prepare finishers’ medals, T-Shirts, and other items for this sort of function, and these can be offered as souvenirs of the day.
Soldier Field will be hosting this donut themed day on August 10.
