Evanston event to introduce basics of houseplant care

Houseplants come with many perks such as beauty and cleaner air, and an Evanston event will help the public learn how to provide their new green friends with lots of care.

Cultivate Urban Rainforest and Gallery will be offering its ”Plant Parenthood” workshop this August, and the function will be focused on the basics of home horticulture. Tickets are $25 each, and everyone is welcome to bring along their favorite vino or other beverage.

The facilitator of the class will introduce a variety of topics that can be helpful to the newbie plant parent. They will receive tips for how to choose the right species and cultivar for a particular location, as well as light requirements, fertilization, and humidity. They will also discuss the importance of noting and changes that occur in a plant and adjusting the care it receives. Each attendee will be offered a discount of 15% on any purchases they make on site on the day of the activity.

While some people may be natural green thumbs, others have to learn what to do. A workshop gives them an opportunity to do so, and Print shops will be able to supply Copies of any learning materials used.

This introduction to home horticulture is scheduled for August 7. It will start at 1:00 pm and run for one hour.
