Evanston Chamber gets political over breakfast

The date and list of speakers for the legislative breakfast, held every year by the Evanston Chamber of Commerce, has been released.

The Chamber’s annual breakfast will be opened by Eileen Mitchell, Vice President of External Affairs for the presenting sponsor AT&T. Among the various speakers will be County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, State Representatives Laura Fine and Robyn Gabel, and State Senator Daniel Bissand. Although it is not a certainty, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky may be in attendance, depending on the how the Congressional schedule develops.

According to Executive Director of the Evanston Chamber of Commerce, Elaine Kemma-Irish, the breakfast provides the public with an opportunity to quiz our political leaders on topics of current and general interest. One such topic could be school funding from the state and federal governments. The breakfast also presents an opportunity for networking, which is why a freshly printed supply of digital Business Cards will likely be purchased for the occasion by many attendees.

The breakfast is open to anyone who wishes to attend and will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 1818 Maple Avenue in Evanston. Pricing for the breakfast is $40 for nonmembers, $30 for officials of the City of Evanston, and $20 for Chamber members. This year’s Annual Legislative Breakfast will take place on May 11. The doors will open at 7:00 am with the event taking place between 7:30 am and 9:00 am.
