This January, an event will help to bring everyone who calls Evanston home in from the cold.
Both walkers and volunteers are needed to make the fundraiser a success, and while they walk, the participants will get a taste of what it is like to have nowhere to go when winter sets in.
This will be the Walk for Warmth’s inaugural year, and it will follow a two-mile route. It will make a stop at each of the churches that serve as hosts for the Overnight Emergency Shelter program, and the monies raised will help to ensure that their doors will remain open to those in need for a long time to come.
Members of the public who would like to lend a hand can choose to walk or volunteer, and all help will be appreciated. Donations can be made either online or in person, and the participants will also be seeking sponsors.
While the main goal of this sort of function may be to raise money, it can also raise a lot of awareness in the community. A printing services provider can supply Banners and Signs for the walkers in a fundraiser like this to carry as well as Brochures they can hand out to anyone who stops them along the way and asks for more details.
The first ever Walk for Warmth Has been scheduled for January 20. The staging point for the activity will be located at 516 Church Street.
