Waffle Love, a chain based out of Utah, recently opened a shop in Meridian at the corner of McMillan and Linder Roads, with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The owner of Waffle Love in Meridian, Michael Bevans, has been a longtime fan of waffles and was familiar with Waffle Me Up, a competitor based in Boise. Bevans thought highly of the concept and decided to bring Waffle Love to the Boise area.
A yeast dough is used to make the waffles, along with a sprinkling of pearl sugar that enables the waffles to caramelize as they bake. The result is a waffle with a bready and chewy texture that has a sweetness to it.
The waffles can be eaten on their own or topped with something savory or sweet. Choices include grilled chicken, tomato, cheese, avocado, and an egg cooked sunny side up; whipped cream and Nutella; and a grilled cheese waffle that can be dunked in tomato bisque. Bevans plans to add a waffle with berries grown in Idaho.
Bevans has also opened four locations of the customizable soda chain, Sodalicious, also based in Utah, to the area and will be running those as well as Waffle Love.
Flyer printing is one way to make those in the community aware of such openings and encourage people to try their unique offerings.
