A new art show is now open in the Initial Point Gallery in City Hall in Meridian. The title of the exhibit is “Purple Plus”.
The exhibit features diverse artworks by local artists from the Treasure Valley Artists’ Alliance (TVAA). Artists from TVAA have created two- and three-dimensional pieces of artwork exploring the use of the color purple in all its shades and meanings. Claire Remsberg, curator of the TVAA. Remsburg added that purple invokes mystery, magic, rarity, and royalty and the “plus” is a way to include permutations and shades of purple. Such as lavender, indigo, and violet. She said that purple can be found in animals, landscapes, backgrounds, and plumages of many kinds.
The TVAA is a non-profit arts organization of artists from Meridian, Nampa, Eagle, Boise, and beyond. Poster printing can be used to help promote such unique art shows and their artists.
The gallery will also be holding an event called “Artist Panel Discussion: Archival to Alternative Art Media” next month. Leslie Jay Bosch, president of the TVAA, said that this panel discussion will focus on the materials the artists use ranging from archival to the alternative. She welcomes everyone to attend this event and learn more about the TVAA as an organization of the arts. This will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 6.
The show will be on display through Friday January 30.
