Meridian looks for input on public art

Residents are invited by the Meridian Arts Commission (MAC) and the city of Meridian to share their vision for the Meridian Art in Public Spaces (MAPS) Program by providing their input in a survey online.

Feedback from this survey will help shape the development and direction of installations of public art throughout the city and build a legacy that reflects the character of the city and enhances its shared spaces.

The need for people to fill out such surveys and the benefit of such input can be promoted throughout a city with poster printing.

The Arts and Culture Coordinator for the city of Meridian, Cassandra Schiffler, said that public art adds beauty to people’s everyday lives and is a powerful way to foster connections and tell a story. She added that this feedback is important to helping create art that aligns with everyone’s vision for art in the city and that resonates with what makes the city so special.

The Meridian Arts Commission advises the City Council and the Mayor on policies and issues related to culture and the arts and promotes public participation and awareness in the arts. The MAPS Program funds public art in Meridian and was established by the Meridian City Council in 2015.

The deadline for people to respond to the survey is Monday August 18.
