Applications for people interested in serving on the Transportation and Solid Waste Advisory Commissions are being sought by the city.
The Meridian City Council and the Mayor are advised by members of the Solid Waste Advisory Commission on issues related recycling and solid waste management.
Meetings of the Solid Waste Advisory Commission are held monthly on the fourth Wednesday at 4:00 pm at Meridian City Hall in the Council Chambers. The monthly time requirement of members is between one and ten hours.
Meanwhile, the Transportation Commission discusses transportation project development and planning regarding sidewalks, pathways, transit corridors, roads, bike lanes, and lighting. Meetings are held monthly on the first Monday at 3:30 pm at the same location.
A vital role is played by city commissions in determining the future of their city, as they provide important input and help the city with deliberative processes and the gathering of information.
Those eligible to serve on these commissions need to live in the city, or in the area of impact of the city. Mayor Robert Simison will appoint the selected candidates who will then be confirmed by the City Council. Members will serve a term of three years.
Poster printing around a city can be used to promote such positions and garner interest from eligible individuals, who themselves might want to update their Business Cards if successful.
